Alex is an entrepreneur, husband and dad of two kids. On this business side of things, his skill sets include marketing, SEO, web design and conversion optimization. He's an expert in consumer behavior, having built many successful content-driven websites that acquire targeted traffic, while collecting stats on how consumers behave while shopping.

Alex is a savvy consumer and shopping expert, which is why he created A Couple Consumers with his wife, Tami. Together, they review products that they use and help other shoppers make better buying decisions, while offering discounts and promotions for their readers.

Certifications: Alex holds a Strength and Conditioning Certification (CSCS) and has trained thousands of student-athletes in various sports.

Coach Smith was a college football coach for 15 years at various colleges, and currently coaches quarterbacks at the high school level in his spare time.

Using his CSCS, he's in the process of launching Get Jacked Dad, which will be a strength training app for busy dads who want to get stronger and healthier.

  • Black Friday/Cyber Monday: Expect a Surge in Online Spending
Alex predicts a 5% spending increase for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, driven by consumer savings and anticipation of major discounts. "Online sales will most likely beat in-store shopping sales again this year," he says, as many prioritize necessities over extravagant gifts due to financial constraints.
  • AI Visual Search: Revolutionizing Online Shopping and Influencer Marketing
Alex notes AI visual search's convenience, allowing instant product identification. However, it may limit consumer-influencer interaction. "Influencers might not have to push products as much," Alex says, suggesting a shift to authentic content. Social media platforms may adopt this tech if it enhances ad revenue, but not if it diverts users without benefits.
  • Beware the Debt Trap: The Hidden Risks of Buy Now Pay Later Plans
Alex warns that frequent use of BNPL can lead to unmanageable debt. "Consumers who tend to BNPL end up doing it over and over again," he says, potentially owing thousands. While convenient, these plans add to monthly bills, which can catch shoppers off guard. Awareness and budgeting are crucial for those considering this payment option.
