For IBTIMES: "I'm not sure many Americans truly realize what the implications of this first round of the Supreme Court's decisions mean for the future of not only their own lives, but for democracy itself," Amani Wells-Onyioha, Operations Director at Sole Strategies, told International Business Times in an email. "Over the past few weeks, the Supreme Court has overturned several historic human rights rulings."
For The Liberal OC: When I think about the most critical issues for teens to investigate, I come back to the fundamental importance of knowing our story. On the one hand, you have people who are activated politically and interested in doing their research. On the other hand, you have conservative and Republican authority figures making it difficult for people to find out the truth about our country.
Yes, America is great, but we do have a dark past. Schools are removing access to this information, but kids need to be educated about our country’s history. They need to know what happened—the good, the bad, the ugly, and the in-between. That’s the only way to prevent slipping back into those behaviors.
For Forbes: Replacement theory is the belief that white Americans will be ‘replaced’ by people of color and take over the nation. White supremacists fear becoming a minority because they know how they have historically and presently treated minorities in this country. Replacement theory insists on the idea that native white Europeans will go extinct. In order for whites to ‘preserve’ their place and the majority, some have begun murdering innocent people of color in an attempt to keep numbers of [people of color] from rising. Both sides-ing this issue is what has gotten us to this uptick in racial violence. To combat future mass shootings, we need to shut down all white supremacist language and de-platform those like Tucker Carlson, who spew this rhetoric on television and incite violence. We need to treat white supremacy like the terroristic threat it is. A 2020 intelligence report said white supremacy was the number one terror threat to the U.S. Still, we have seen no real attempt to crack down on it, and we continue to amplify the voices of those encouraging that violence. It is time to treat white supremacists in this country the same way that we treat rapists, pedophiles, and the other offenders that we societally deem as non-negotiable wrong-doers.
