As Director of Diversity and Inclusion at BCBSMN/Stella, Angel is responsible for driving the diversity and inclusion strategy. This includes championing an inclusive environment that embraces individual differences and unique needs and leveraging the diverse talent of our associates in order to deliver on the organization's mission. Angel partners closely with the Health Equity team, HR Leaders, Associate Resource Groups and many others, to ensure the organization continues to advance the commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield focused on community sustainability. We knew that the only way to help communities maintain themselves and sustain the momentum of getting back to work was making sure people were vaccinated. Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Minnesota Department of Health collaborated in creating mobile vaccination efforts — going out into the community, making sure that individuals who may not have had opportunities or access to vaccines had that access. More than 700 associates volunteered their time to be part of the effort, including many Blue Cross clinicians. Through our mobile Vax Buses, we literally met people where they were instead of having them come into clinics. Another great thing about this work was the sense of connection with the community, as well as with health care providers. In the effort of doing good work, we were able to glean insights so that when we eventually move past this pandemic, we will have new learnings and abilities to be more impactful in those communities.
