Ashu Varshney, CIO and senior vice president of global cloud operations for RingCentral, said that while the communications platform provider is experimenting with generative AI, working with cloud providers is a convenient and easy way to test the technology. But if the company makes deeper commitments to generative AI, it would aim to move its AI infrastructure to a private cloud, where it more closely controls costs and where most of its technology is currently housed, he said.
As an IT organization, you always have a very good pulse of your employees. When your number of employees and contractors are rising and your number of licenses are rising or staying the same, that makes sense. But when they don’t go down after you start churning employees, it tells you that there are applications that are oversubscribed. We need to find out how we can split the impact of licenses to bring some cost benefits.
