Among adults with severe aortic stenosis who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement, those who received prior chest radiation therapy experienced no differences in clinical outcomes compared with those who did not, data show.Patients with prior chest radiation therapy may develop aortic stenosis at an earlier age than is typical, thought to result from acceleration in fibrocalcific
The expansion of TAVR to lower risk populations with aortic stenosis has driven investigation of its utility in unique patient subsets. In this context, TAVR may offer an alternative option for the treatment of severe symptomatic aortic stenosis in patients with prior chest radiation therapy. Yet, there is lack of high‐quality data and long‐term outcomes analysis to support the use of TAVR in this patient population.
