Bob King is the founder and CEO of Humanscale, the leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance ergonomic products that help create a healthier work life. Since founding the now global company in 1983, King has led the movement to define what a healthy, human-centric office should be. Humanscale’s product range includes seating, height-adjustable desks, desk lighting, as well as point-of-care products for the healthcare industry. Humanscale operates in over 26 countries and their products are used at virtually all Fortune 100 companies.
Under King’s leadership, Humanscale has led the sustainability movement in the commercial furniture market space. Notable achievements include developing the world’s first chair made with discarded fishing nets, leading the industry in material transparency, and eliminating Red-List chemicals from the production process.
King has received numerous accolades for his contributions to design and the environment. In 2006, TIME Magazine singled out King in “Who’s Who: The Eco Guide,” and in 2011, he received the Museum of Arts and Design Visionaries Award in recognition of leadership in design and commitment to environmental sustainability.
King holds a Bachelor of Science from Boston University and an MBA from Columbia University.
