Carla Harvey is not your average death care professional. In addition to her background in embalming and funeral directing, she is an internationally acclaimed frontwoman for a popular Heavy Metal band, bringing a unique blend of expertise and passion to the world of death care.
After earning her Associate of Science in Mortuary Science from Cypress College and her Bachelor of Science in Mortuary Management from Mid America College of Funeral Service, Carla embarked on a journey to redefine the way we approach death and grief. Recognizing the need for creative and non-traditional support, she became certified as a Grief Coach and a Bereavement Specialist.
Carla's commitment to innovation in death care also led her to obtain certificates in Thanatology, Green Burial, and Death Companioning, allowing her to offer holistic and environmentally conscious services to those in need. In her 17 years of navigating the death industry, Carla has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of embracing mortality and facilitating grief.
Driven by her own experiences in both the funeral home and on stage, in 2016 Carla founded Good Grief, a bereavement center tailored to the unique needs of rockers and alternative communities worldwide. Through Good Grief, she provides a safe space for individuals to explore their grief, mental health, and existential questions in a supportive and understanding environment.
Beyond her work at Good Grief, Carla is a vocal advocate for the death positive movement. With a desire to reach a new generation of individuals leading non-traditional lives, she uses her platform as a speaker and writer to address topics such as aging, grief, death and autonomy in the dying process...with a touch of rock 'n' roll flair.
Carla Harvey is more than just a death care professional – she's a force for change in an industry ripe for evolution. Carla’s current role is Partner Success Manager for innovative death care
