Dr. Chris Courtney | Source | SVP of Science, Risk, & Analytics at Happy Money

Chris Courtney is SVP of Science, Risk, & Analytics for Happy Money, overseeing the data science, business intelligence, UX research, risk, and analytics teams. As a cognitive neuroscientist, Chris joined the company in 2014 to build automated, personalized, and inclusionary financial solutions that help people use money as a tool for happiness.

Chris’ academic background and analytical research have spanned everything from virtual reality to PTSD. While earning his bachelor’s and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, Chris built adaptive virtual reality environments capable of responding in real-time to the physiological responses of individual participants to promote effective decision-making skills under high levels of duress for training pre-deployed military service personnel.

Chris lives in Costa Mesa, California, and enjoys park-hopping, cooking, and dancing to records with his wife and their two sons. He is a true science nerd who has always favored applied over theoretical research, so he loves reading about new behavior modification and positive psychology techniques and then testing them on himself and with his family. He is still in search of an effective technique to motivate Calloway to eat his vegetables.
