Monzo was co-founded by Tom Blomfield, Jonas Templestein, and Paul Rippon, who came together in 2015 to transform the banking industry. Tom, a graduate of Oxford University with a background in law and a proven track record from co-founding GoCardless, envisioned a customer-first approach to banking that prioritized transparency and simplicity. Jonas, an accomplished software engineer from the University of Technology Sydney, brought the technical expertise needed to build Monzo’s scalable and reliable infrastructure. London-based AI customer service startup, Gradient Labs, which resolves customer queries, has raised £2.8 million in a seed funding round led by LocalGlobe, with participation from various business angels, including Tom Blomfield, Jonas Templestein, Gideon Valkin, Mike Hudack, and Akhil Paul.
