  • Pediatrician Clarifies Gastrocolic Reflex in Newborns
Dr. Felton says, "The gastrocolic reflex is strong in newborns, causing them to poop when they eat." As babies mature, this reflex weakens, and breastfed babies produce less waste. Normal bowel movements can occur every 5-10 days. Infant dyschezia, where babies grunt and cry to poop, is also normal. Watch her TikTok for more insights: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTYUMcQ2j/
  • Pediatric Alert: Alcohol in Foods Poses Risks to Children
Dr. Felton warns, "Alcohol is much more toxic to children than adults," causing confusion and vomiting. Parents should remove alcohol, keep the child calm, and seek ER care if symptoms worsen. Cooking with alcohol can leave residues; opt for alcohol-free substitutes for young children. Keep alcoholic items out of reach and educate children on safety.
