Kathleen Bell, M.D., is a neuro-rehabilitation specialist in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Bell received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her medical degree from Temple University Medical School. She completed a residency in rehabilitation medicine at the University of Washington as well as a National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research fellowship.
Dr. Bell joined the faculty at the University of Washington in 1985 and remained there until joining UT Southwestern in 2014. At the University of Washington, she held a number of leadership positions including Medical Director of the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program, Medical Director of Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinics, Director of the Acquired Brain Injury Fellowship Program, and Chief of Clinical Services for Rehabilitation Medicine.
As many North Texans try to move on from the pandemic, Dr. Bell is focused on the "tens of millions of patients" who've developed long-haul COVID—and who are experiencing life-altering symptoms long after their COVID-19 infection cleared.
In terms of long-term health and productivity, I don’t think we’ll be seeing the total cost of this pandemic for some years to come. In the meantime, we all have a personal and social responsibility to avoid getting COVID and transmitting it.
