Dr. Michelle Jorgensen is an author, speaker, teacher, biologic/holistic dentist, and health and wellness provider. After practicing traditional dentistry for 10 years, Michelle became very sick. Through her own path to return to health, she discovered she had mercury poisoning from drilling out mercury fillings for her patients.

This path lead her to discover ways to improve her family’s and her own health in all facets of life. She found answers in the kitchen, in the garden, and at home. She has found what it takes to Live Well, in today’s world, and now with Living Well with Dr. Michelle, she wants to share those ways to Live Well with you.

  • Rethink Rinsing: Holistic Dentist Advocates for Post-Brushing Pause
Dr. Jorgensen suggests that not rinsing after brushing allows remineralizing agents like hydroxyapatite to strengthen enamel. She warns against skipping the rinse with traditional toothpastes containing fluoride, which can cause health issues if ingested. For optimal oral health, she recommends brushing 2-3 times daily with safe-to-ingest products and leaving toothpaste on overnight if ingredients are known.
  • Gum Disease: A Silent Threat to Heart and Overall Health
Dr. Jorgensen reveals that mouth bacteria from gum disease can embed in arterial plaques, triggering inflammation linked to heart attacks, strokes, and more. At-risk groups include teens, pregnant women, and older adults. Warning signs like bleeding gums should not be ignored. Prevention through daily oral care and microbiome-balancing rinses is key to protecting overall health.
  • Surprising Habits That May Be Ruining Your Teeth
Dr. Jorgensen highlights habits like consuming acidic "health" drinks, mouth breathing, and overzealous flossing as threats to dental health. She warns against alcohol-based mouthwash, excessive oil pulling, and improper brushing timing. Even nail biting and frequent whitening can harm teeth. Her holistic approach combines traditional dental care with functional health for comprehensive oral wellness.

  • “We are bombarded with a confusing mix of messages about wellness, health, medicine, and healing. When we think about wellness from a cellular standpoint, we see that healing and wellness are already inside of us, that we embody these principles simply through the fact that our body, if properly supported, works with single-minded effort to return to a state of wellness. When you give your cells what they need to stay well in the first place, you don't need healing at all. If a part of your body becomes unwell, either due to disease or lifestyle stressors, there’s often a path back to health that’s again rooted in our bodies and the world around us.”
