Dr Ortiz-Aguayo has spent the last decade as a director on staff at two of the most prestigious child and adolescent psychiatric hospitals in the country (see below). On Dec 5 2022, Dr Ortiz-Aguayo will be joining Complete Mind Care of PA so he may build and implement a program that includes multi levels of treatment for children and adolescents including young adults age 18-25. Dr. Ortiz- Aguayo will be seeing patients in addition to operating as Chief Medical Officer. His goal is to have CMC of PA provide the best clinical care available leveraging cutting edge technologies and pharmacological advances. As Complete MInd Care of PA expands its locations Dr Ortiz-Aguayo will be adding Behavioral Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs for all genders and non-binary groups for many age brackets and conditions. Dr. Ortiz-Aguayo graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School Of Medicine, research track. He then completed a Triple Board Residency Training Program (Pediatrics/General Psychiatry and Child &Adolescent Psychiatry) at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC/Presbyterian Shadyside and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC), followed by a Master’s Degree in Medical Management at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Ortiz-Aguayo joined Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in 2017 from the University Of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where he served as Clinical Director for the Behavioral Science Division at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, Campus-Based Services, and as Associate Director of Residency Training for the Triple Board Program at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. At CHOP Dr. Ortiz-Aguayo served as Associate Chair for Inpatient and Campus Based Services in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, the Division Chief for Clinical Affairs for the Division of Integrated Psychiatry, Psychology and Behavioral Health and Senior Medical Director for Behavioral Health at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Ortiz-Aguayo’s clinical and academic interests include psychosomatic medicine focusing in the care of youth presenting with co morbid physical and mental health illness, novel treatments and the clinical care models and systems of care to meet the needs of patients, care givers and providers. Dr. Ortiz-Aguayo is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the Academy of Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry. His current professional activities include curating educational content for the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as examination content development for the American Board of Pediatrics. He is also a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership. He is a Consultant to the Pediatric Advisory Committee - U.S. Food and Drug Administration Office of Pediatric Therapeutics. Dr. Ortiz-Aguayo is Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics.
