Dr. Supatra Tovar (PSY31949) is one of the only clinical psychologists in the country who is also a registered dietitian and accredited fitness expert. Using research-proven techniques, Dr. Tovar has helped numerous clients overcome eating disorders, trauma, depression, and anxiety by teaching practical techniques that work for both our bodies and minds. Her clients’ successes led her to start ANEW, a company dedicated to guiding more people through the journey of improving our relationships with our mind, body, and spirit.

Dr. Tovar converted her landmark program for a path to a healthy weight into a 7-step online video course called Deprogram Diet Culture. This flagship program is designed to help you end the cycles of dieting and weight gain by reformulating our relationship to food and establishing a stronger mind-body connection. To accompany the course, she also released the Mindfulness Cookbook for Busy People, the first in a line of helpful tools under the ANEW Insight series focused on psychology, nutrition, and exercise.

Dr. Tovar has made numerous scholarly and professional presentations at several national conferences on a variety of health topics, including the detection and treatment of disordered eating, dissociation, weightism, health disparities among minorities, and mindfulness interventions for eating disorders.

Dr. Tovar has been interviewed by the most respected newspapers in the world, including the Times of London, the Washington Post, and the New York Times.

Dr. Tovar earned her doctorate in psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and focused her post-doctoral training on the effects of trauma on health and disordered eating. Dr. Tovar also has two master’s degrees, including a Master of Science in Nutrition. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and chaired the disaster response committee for her local psychologist association. She opened her first private Pilates practice over 20 years ago and has been a registered dietitian since 2015.

As adults, we no longer have built-in friend-making outlets — and as we grow up, marriage, work, and child-rearing can keep us locked in the same routine, causing us to feel isolated.
