  • Understanding the Labia Minora: Insights from Dr. Tami Rowen
Dr. Rowen explains that the labia minora are "folds of skin" protecting the vaginal environment and enhancing sexual pleasure. They shrink during menopause due to hormonal loss. While surgery can restore them, local hormones like estradiol may help. Conditions like lichen sclerosus can also affect them, necessitating expert evaluation for any changes.
  • Accurate Cycle Tracking: A Key to Enhanced Health and Fertility
Dr. Rowen highlights that "accurate cycle tracking can be very valuable" for fertility by identifying the fertile window, aiding fitness by predicting menses timing, and assisting mood regulation by anticipating symptoms. While not essential for general menstrual health, tracking irregular cycles can indicate underlying conditions. The key is noting the first day of menses each cycle.
  • HRT and Weight Management: Insights from Dr. Tami Rowen
Dr. Rowen explains that HRT has minimal impact on weight. Post-HRT, weight loss relies on reduced calorie intake and exercise. "The most important aspect of weight in terms of health is fitness." Effective exercises include cardio and strength training. Estrogen-only vs. combined therapy can affect water retention. Fitness, not weight, is crucial for health during menopause.
