A serial entrepreneur, Evan Leaphart combines a passion for financial literacy and innovation with a commitment to solving real problems that help the community around him. Evan's belief in credit as a tool to encourage entrepreneurship has led to the creation of Kiddie Kredit. Kiddie Kredit is a mobile chore tracking app that gives parents the ability to educate their kids on the importance of credit while simultaneously teaching them about responsibility through chore and activity completion. The premise is simple: the better a child performs their duties/activities, the better their score. We do this by creating a “kredit” score that parallels traditional FICO scoring models. Black Men Talk Tech is an organization dedicated to bridging the inequality gap in the tech world. They’ve hosted the Unicorn Ambition Conference for the past two years, which is a three-day event that welcomes Black men and other practitioners in the tech ecosystem to gain insights, develop and share their ideas with like-minded entrepreneurs, delivering social and economic impact and high-quality content that benefits people of color in particular.
CNBC Select spoke to Evan Leaphart, founder of the Kiddie Kredit mobile app, about why it's important to teach kids about financial literacy from an early age.
