As an outspoken opponent of veganism and the plant based diet, California-based author Giselle Bisson, AKA "The Recovering Vegan" has over 16,000 social media followers and has appeared on many podcasts and radio shows.

Did 20+ years on a vegan and vegetarian plant-based diet ruin her health? Will the exact opposite -- a carnivore diet -- restore it? Follow Giselle for her honest and vulnerable day to day adventures as she struggles to overcome the guilt of eating meat again to save her life and recover from autoimmune diseases.

Giselle is but one of a growing number of ex vegans (and Hollywood actresses like Hayden Paniterre and Angelina Jolie) who are returning to eating meat again after suffering from malnutrition related illnesses and autoimmune diseases.

Many ex-vegans believe our illnesses were caused by a lack of protein and essential nutrients like vitamin B-12, as well as an allergic reaction to "anti-nutrients" in plants -- toxins that plants naturally produce to fend off predators and insects.

These ex-vegans meet in Zoom groups and Facebook groups worldwide to share their surprisingly similar stories of ill health while trying to adhere to a plant-based diet.

Now recovering her health on an animal based "carnivore diet," Giselle has risen to International prominence as an outspoken defender of the traditional, ancestral, meat-based diet, while questioning the vegan diet.

In order to return to reach her difficult ethical decision to eat animal-based foods again, Giselle spent time interviewing other unhealthy vegans, visiting farms and ranches, interviewing nutritionists and doctors, studying Permaculture and regenerative agriculture and talking to ranchers and butchers.

In this process, she developed a large following on Twitter, reaching up to 1.4 million per month.

Giselle is now recovering from autoimmune disease, reactive arthritis and IBD since 1/1/23 on a plant-free "carnivore diet" -- one steak at a time, and writing a book about her journey.

In addition to dramatically decreasing her arthritis pain and inflammation, and reversing the symptoms of autoimmune disease, Giselle lost 24 pounds in 6 months and can proudly wear a bikini at age 61.

    "Veganism is voluntary malnutrition."

"Carbs are literally killing us softly! And carbs = plants."

"My detractors in the vegan community attack me by saying: 'You were never really a vegan.' That's the first thing they'll do when you leave a cult -- they'll start attacking you."

I was absolutely a vegan. I was even a vegan chef caterer, I promoted and produced vegan events. I devoted my whole life to promoting veganism for two decades -- and it destroyed my health.

Now I want to make sure veganism doesn't destroy a young generation that is misguidedly thinking that plant based diets are "healthy." Are they?

I lost years of my life visiting doctors and emergency rooms and struggling with mystery ailments that I have now learned were caused by a combination of malnutrition from the vegan diet -- and an excess of fiber and plant toxins, such as gluten, lectins, phytates, and oxalates.

We are now seeing scientific and medical research that confirms that these toxins can trigger an autoimmune response or systemic inflammation in some sensitive individuals.

And we are also learning that humans are obligate carnivores -- and the human body simply needs meat for optimal health."

"I was really deep into veganism, early on, when it was not a mainstream diet at all. My health got worse and worse. And I saw that happening to my long term vegan friends around me.

We just thought it was natural aging at first -- but then my friends started -- dying. Mostly Cancer and mostly before age 50. And this is when I started questioning it.

    And I started thinking:

"I wonder if what we're eating has something to do with this?"
