Hiro Saito was born and raised in Japan. By 18 years of age, he was ready to spread his wings and fulfill a lifelong dream which was to live in the United States. He landed in New York City and quickly began working in the restaurant business. His years there taught him well about how successful businesses run.
After several years in NYC, Hiro moved to Los Angeles and worked for many years at Hugo’s Restaurant in Studio City, California. It was the early 2000’s and Hugo’s was ahead of its time making delicious food that was healthy and observed different dietary needs including vegan, diary-free and gluten-free items.
After 8 years as a manager, Hiro again felt ready to spread his wings and open his own restaurant. In 2015, Hiro opened Kirari West Bakeshop in Redondo Beach California focusing on making delicious gluten-free food. The food did not taste like a lot of the previous gluten-free food options available and so he heard customers excitedly say daily, “this doesn’t taste gluten-free!”
After 7 successful years, Hiro decided to open a new shop focusing primarily on gluten-free cookies. His goal with opening Confections, also in Redondo Beach, was to not only continue to serve the community with excellent gluten-free food but the cookies are able to be shipped nationwide and reach people all over the country.
