Janet Silverman is Chief Impact Officer (CIO) for The Good Charcoal Company, the only company in big box stores importing fully sustainable charcoal to the US from Namibia and South Africa. Since its inception in December 2020, “Doing Good” has been central to its operation, with Janet spearheading its strategy to support communities impacted by food insecurity all over the United States. To date, the programme has provided over 40,000 hot meals to food pantries and communities in need across Texas, Illonois, New York, Georgia, Tennessee Alabama, Ohio, Arkansas, Florida and California and Washington State to name a few.
Prior to this role Janet spent 10 years spearheading the launch of Wonderbra in the US market, overseeing retail, sales and merchandising. Taking a break to start a family, she re-entered the workforce during the pandemic. As a mum of four in New York, Janet saw first-hand the impact the pandemic had on her local community with parents unable to feed their kids and older generations unfit to leave their homes and collect food. This was something she couldn’t ignore. Janet’s new role sees her traveling to new destinations on a weekly basis, volunteering with pantries and feeding communities in need.
