Jay Godfrey is a co-founder of Nushama. His fascination and exploration into the therapeutic benefits of plant medicine came with realization that three years of traditional talk therapy was insufficient to get to the root of his stress. After working with physicians, shamans, reading dozens of books and research papers, and talking with thought leaders in the psychedelic ecosystem, Jay felt the gravitational pull to help others in similar situations. Nushama was born out of Jay’s desire to partner with the most experienced physicians and business minds to create novel treatment alternatives and build the infrastructure for the future of psychedelic medicine.
Prior to starting Nushama, Jay spent fifteen years as Chief Executive Officer of his eponymously named fashion house where he built a global brand from scratch. His collection was sold in five continents in prestigious retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Bloomingdales and was featured on the red carpet by numerous celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, Viola Davis, Ashley Graham, and Laverne Cox. Prior to founding the Jay Godfrey brand, he was on Wall Street working at Citigroup in investment banking. Jay graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce and the Parsons School of Design. He resides in New York City with his dietitian wife, Dara, his two beautiful daughters, Allegra and Bardot, and his Bengal-Tabby kitten, Maple.
The décor of the Nushama Psychedelic Wellness Clinic was designed to look like bliss. “It doesn’t feel like a hospital or a clinic, but more like a journey,” said Jay Godfrey, the former fashion designer who co-founded the space...

As many see psychedelics as the future of mental health, we view group cohorts as the future of psychedelic-assisted therapy. Groups improve financial access and deepen a sense of connectedness. In contrast to a culture of Covid isolation, we welcome people to re-emerge and build strength and resilience in a safe, supportive environment. We aim to help members rediscover their life’s purpose and the community that inspires it.
