Jennifer VanSkiver serves as the Chief Officer of Strategic Growth at Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI), bringing over 30 years of experience in corporate communications, community relations, and fund development to this role. As a strategic communicator and community development veteran, VanSkiver has held executive positions in both non-profit and for-profit sectors. Her expertise in creating new partnership channels, optimizing economic impact, and articulating long-term vision is coupled with a deeply personal connection to SOMI's mission.
In her current role, VanSkiver leads SOMI's fund development efforts, focusing on creating new partnerships and optimizing the impact of the Unified Sports & Inclusion Center. As the mother of a Special Olympics Global Ambassador, she brings a unique perspective to her work, positioning SOMI as a premier cause-related partner and expert in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion movement. VanSkiver is dedicated to aligning SOMI's mission with corporate partners seeking measurable inclusion strategies, demonstrating that inclusion is not just inspiring, but also good business.

Special Olympics Michigan partnered with Steelcase to create spaces designed for a first-of-its-kind inclusion center.
“The inclusive design process is a game changer. Our special needs community has, for so long, been required to adapt itself to a broader society that never fully considered us,” says Jen. “Our environment will showcase how thoughtful spaces can unlock, highlight and spur all ability levels.”
