John Bass is President at Global Data Risk; retired global leader of CIA and a former managing director of Kroll, Inc. (Formerly Duff & Phelps LLC) Expert Services / Data Risk / Geopolitical Advisory Practice. Mr. Bass focuses on helping commercial clients – domestic and foreign – navigate regulatory and reputational issues with the US government, particularly with elements of the Intelligence and Enforcement Communities; i.e., OFAC/Sanctions, ITAR, FCPA, etc. Mr. Bass has extensive experience in complex international investigations, dispute resolution, government relations, strategic communications and intercultural negotiations. He focuses extensively on the problems posed by China. Mr. Bass led the modernization of the global misconduct program of Deutsche Bank, working to integrate surveillance and investigatory efforts focused on FCPA, anti-bribery, trading, Legal, HR, Cyber and Physical Security issues. As a result of this project, Mr. Bass is frequently called on to manage large internal investigations for such institutions.
