Volley was created after John, our CEO and a seasoned Platform Tennis player, became frustrated with the lack of opportunities available to practice and improve his game. With no ball machines on the market for the sport, John was forced to modify a clunky and outdated Tennis ball machine.

When John began bringing his improvised ball machine to his home court, he found that his frustrations were universally experienced. Players across all skill levels would stop him after his practice sessions and ask where they could buy their own machine. It became apparent that there was an immediate and intense need that was not being met in Platform Tennis.

John knew a simple ball machine for paddle was not enough. He resolved to transform repetitive court drills into a extensive training experience by creating a smarter ball machine and premier training platform-- and he had the perfect team to help him do it.

John and Dan, John’s brother and trusted business partner, built a knowledgeable team with a track-record of building thriving companies that utilize software intelligence to enhance best-in-class hardware.

Today, Volley is the world’s first digitally enabled robotics as a service (RaaS) training platform focused on sports such as platform tennis, pickleball, tennis and padel. Combining a digitally controlled ball trainer with an AI vision network, Volley creates opportunities for players, pros and clubs.
