Kasey Earnest is the Chief Executive Officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu and has been at the Club for nearly 20 years. When Kasey joined the organization in 2005, it was a new nonprofit in the small community of Malibu. Through her leadership, vision and the support of an engaged board of directors, she has led BGCM from a modest beginning of a staff of three and membership of 30 young people in a single trailer, to an expansive community for youth with four locations, 30 staff, 300
volunteers, and has grown the membership to 800 members with a reach of over 1,600 young people annually.

Four outstanding students — Diego, Anthony, Irina and Emily — shared their personal story of adversity, goals for the future, and ways the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu (BGCM) has impacted their lives during the Youth of The Year competition on Friday, Feb. 3. The event provided inspiration, motivation, and leadership. The winner, Anthony, will move on to the LA County-wide Youth of the Year event.
The smell of funnel cakes, fried foods, and, of course, chili, filled the air at the40th Annual Malibu Chili Cook-Off. Despite temperatures reaching nearly triple digits, over 26,000 attendees continued to enjoy the carnival games, rides, meet local vendors, and eat some nostalgic festival favorites over the Labor Day weekend.
Really this is a launch to hopefully something bigger and where we are reminding our kids what they should be vs. what they shouldn’t be. We know that bullying is an issue, we know that kids are suffering from being bullied and we are reminding kids of what they should be, they should be kind, they should be inclusive and be respectful.
