Wrapping up our theme of DesignLab’s Community, this week Majenta is joined by the brilliant Kate McAndrew, a Co-founder and General Partner at Baukunst, a collective of creative technologists advancing the art of building companies at the frontiers of technology and design. Prior to founding Baukunst, she was a Partner at Bolt where she invested at the intersection of the digital and physical world for over seven years. She is the founder of Women in Hardware. After 3 episodes highlighting makers and designers like Jayy and Sophy, and entrepreneur engineers like Kwabena, Kate is the perfect guest to tie our theme together, representing the much-appreciated investor side of the innovator community, without whom big ideas and experimental technology could not be developed and scaled for us to enjoy. We're so happy Kate could join us to help bridge the gap between makers and investors. Kate McAndrew LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/kateprestonmcandrew/ Baukunst...

"Investing in non-transactional industry relationships is one of the great joys of my work. The people peripheral to my direct work (LPs who are not MY LPs, reporters, agencies, growth investors, venture bankers etc etc) often help me see things from new angles. There's also so much permission to just be yourself.
In the best situations, relationships where you DO 'transact' are also not transactional! And you can let down and drop in with everyone. That's flow state.
My encouragement to folks: get to know the broader ecosystem, not just people you think you need things from. You never know what you'll learn, who they might introduce you to, or who will become your friend and ally.
This is a big part of the philosophy at Baukunst. Ecosystem > Egosystem. It's an aspiration and a reality."
