Kimberly Bacso exchanged an office with a view for a life of adventure when she became an Army spouse. During 23 years of active duty life, she moved to 10 duty stations and spent nine years in Germany.
She is the chief of staff at TOGETHER!, a platform that empowers young, independent-minded Americans to raise funds for their causes, companies, and campaigns. TOGETHER! aims to amplify voices and build movements, steering America away from polarization and toward cutting-edge, common-sense solutions led by innovative entrepreneurs and cause champions.
As part of a highly-mobile military family, she had a non-linear career path, taking advantage of the opportunities at each duty station. For over two decades, she grew expertise in accounting, military- and veteran-serving nonprofits, entrepreneurship, program development, project management, writing, editing, retail, yoga teaching and studio management, wellness, marketing, operations, and political campaigns.
All of that transition has sharpened lifestyle skills like moving, settling a variety of homes with things on hand, gardening, becoming a tourist where she lives, learning languages, traveling widely, and raising a third culture kid.
When she’s not working, you can find her traveling off the beaten path, enjoying the outdoors, trying out new vegetarian/vegan recipes, taking a course, or cozying up with a good book.

The military spouse community is a unique sisterhood - they show strength with every relocation, deployment, and lostjob; they’re resilient - making a new home and forming new friendships at each dutystation; andthey are fiercely devotedto the family and military hero they love. Despite theuncertainty and sacrifice that military life brings, military spouses face each new challenge with grace and bravery. At Charliemadison Originals, we're celebrating our sisterhood of military spouses through our Meet a Milspouse series - sharing one story at a time and giving you a glimpse inside their world. Military spouses are one of the highest unemployed demographics in the country.
"Not able to secure full-time, meaningful work at overseas, remote and short-duration duty stations, I did the best I could to learn and gain experience through volunteer, part-time and entrepreneurial work," she says. "At one three-year assignment in Northern Virginia, I had enough time to work my way up from yoga teacher to studio assistant to studio manager."
