ALBANY (WRGB) - The annual Freihofer's Run for women attracts over a thousand runners each year. But before the runners line up at the starting line, many have to prepare. That's why Race Directors offer a Training Challenge. "Our goal is to get together with the women as many times as possible. So we have multiple days and multiple workout sites. " Race Co-Director Kristen Hislop said.
ALBANY, NY (WRGB) -- A highly anticipated event in the Capital Region won't be hitting the roads this year, but organizers of the Freihofer's Run for Women aren't letting the coronavirus stop the race in its tracks. "We didn't want the women who have run 41 Freihofer's Run for Women events to lose their streak so we thought a virtual run will allow everybody to continue to train, but to also have a goal for their training,” explained Co-director of the run, Kristen Hislop.

"The idea behind the 10-week Freihofer's Training Challenge was, a lot of women do the race, but they don't prepare for it,'' said Hislop, who is a FRW co-director. "So it was like, let's get them prepared for it. It was really a beginning program. And then people kept coming back."
