Leah Tribus, BSN, RN, IBCLC | Source | Senior Director, Clinical and Strategic Partnerships at The Lactation Network

Leah Tribus is a registered nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is the Senior Director of Clinical and Strategic Partnerships at The Lactation Network. In her role, Leah focuses on relationships with health care providers and on securing partnerships with like minded companies that can aid remove barriers to access to care.

Leah began her career as a nurse, knowing early on her desire to specialize in women’s health. Upon graduation from James Madison University with her BSN, she began working in the Mother/Baby unit and in the newborn nursery, and it was her bedside experiences that drove her to pursue her IBCLC certification. For over 12 years, she worked as an inpatient IBCLC helping new families navigate their first days together, and also worked for a local pediatric office providing outpatient lactation care for 7 years. During that time, she helped lead the lactation team at her hospital and developed an outpatient lactation clinic, as well as became a go-to resource for staff in terms of lactation education and orientation.

Looking to spend more time with each family and ensure they received the care they deserved, in 2020, Leah started her own practice, utilizing The Lactation Network. She still runs that practice today and focuses on providing emotional support to lactating parents and surrounding the first year of parenting with positivity and inclusivity by helping families meet their individualized goals. With her own practice, she is passionate about connecting families to insurance-covered visits to avoid any out of pocket costs, often offering outside referrals to other local IBCLCs, a passion that attracted her to pursue a more substantial role within the Network.

Leah lives in Chesapeake, Virginia with her family, including her three daughters. When she is not at work, she can be found enjoying the outdoors, hiking, camping or rock climbing, or pursuing her passion for the visual arts, photography, painting and drawing.
