Louis Kavouras is a professor who has led UNLV's dance program for three decades.
A principal dancer with the Erick Hawkins Dance Company and master teacher of the Erick Hawkins Dance Technique since 1995, Kavouras has been instrumental in furthering the Hawkins technique by organizing and offering workshops and residencies throughout the nation. He also established the Hawkins West Institute, which archives and preserves the aesthetic sculptures, costumes and properties of Erick Hawkins and experimental composer Lucia Dlugoszewski.
Additionally, Kavouras studied Dalcroze Eurhythmics with David Brown at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and has worked, collaborated and studied with numerous outstanding master teachers of the modern dance. He has taught workshops residencies and training programs at higher education institutions including Case Western Reserve University, Texas State University, Cal State Fullerton, and Liverpool Institute of the Performing Arts, as well as numerous international dance institutions.
