By turning the thermostat lower by 1C from 21C to 20C you will reduce your fuel bill by approximately 10 per cent, says Mark Ronald, lead engineer at Hometree, “When you’re in bed you can set your temperature a bit lower too — about 16C — and use a thick duvet. It’s best to use a timer to heat your home only when it’s occupied. This is where you can make really good energy savings.”
