Matt Adler
Executive Chef/Partner, Caruso’s Grocery
Matt Adler is the Executive Chef and Partner of Caruso’s Grocery, an upscale casual Italian-American restaurant inspired by the red-sauce joints of his childhood—most notably Scoozi, the beloved eatery once owned by his father in upstate New York. With two bustling locations in the Washington, D.C. area, Caruso’s has become a local favorite for its nostalgic, ingredient-driven dishes and warm hospitality.
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Adler honed his craft in some of the country’s most esteemed kitchens, including Michelin-starred Alain Ducasse at Essex House and Convivio. In Washington, D.C., he led the culinary teams at acclaimed concepts such as Osteria Morini, Alta Strada, and Casolare. As Culinary Director for Neighborhood Restaurant Group, he was instrumental in launching The Roost, a dynamic food hall on Capitol Hill, where he oversaw the development and operations of nine unique concepts—from Tex-Mex and dumplings to burgers, pizza, and a full-service Italian restaurant.
During the pandemic, Adler played a key role in developing Neighborhood Provisions, an award-winning grocery and meal delivery service that earned a RAMMY for “Best Pivot” in Washington, D.C.
In addition to his restaurant ventures, Adler is the founder of MRA Culinary, a consulting firm that specializes in concept development, kitchen design, operational systems, budgeting, and staff training. He also contributes his time and expertise to World Central Kitchen, providing critical operational support during emergency food relief efforts around the globe.
