I'm an ex-journalist who somehow found myself in the tech world, and then discovered that I was “old” for tech even before I hit 40. This was the genesis of It Gets Late Early, which is all about the experience of getting older in the youth-obsessed tech industry. We are starting the conversation about age bias in the corporate world with the intention of making things better for all of us - employers included.
Past guests include Ross Pomerantz aka Corporate Bro, Dan Lyons (NYT bestselling author and writer on HBO's Silicon Valley), Bryan Creely of A Life After Layoff, Kristi Coulter (author of Exit Interview: The Life and Death of My Ambitious Career), and Leigh Elena Henderson aka HRManifesto and co-host of HR Besties.
The show has hit as high as #13 on the Apple Careers charts in the US, with multiple episodes reaching rankings in the US and internationally. It's a top 2% podcast according to ListenNotes.
Here's to a world where our value - both at work and in society - has nothing to do with the number of candles on our birthday cakes.
PS. Yes, "It Gets Late Early" is a sports reference, and a throwback. Extra points for people who get it.

Ageism is so baked into our culture, it often doesn’t register until you start paying attention to what you and others casually say about growing older and older people.
Ageism is “an open secret in the tech industry,” says Maureen Clough, host of It Gets Late Early, a podcast about aging in tech. Even when ageism isn’t as blatant as the IBM case, she says, it lurks behind common ideas in industry hiring, such as culture fit. “If you have a company that is predominantly young, white, and male, it’s going to be harder to get in there,” Clough says. - WIRED Magazine
