Max Amini is an Iranian-American director, producer, and world-touring comedian. Max has appeared on shows such as NBC’s Heroes, Netflix’s Real Rob with Rob Schneider, and Comedy Central’s Mind of Mencia, and has garnered multiple hour-long comedy specials, and sold to networks including Discovery and Voice of America. Most recently, Max directed and produced the award-winning short film, James The Second, a coming-of-age story inspired by the real life pain of the Iranian Community. The film made the Oscars longlist for Best Short Film, and received numerous accolades at film festivals including Cannes Indie Short Awards, LA Diversity Film Festival, Montreal Independent Film Festival, and Hollywood Shortsfest.

In 2010, Max established his own production company, Abstraction Media, and began creatively producing and directing commercials, television series, and comedy specials with important messages. Alongside Abstraction’s work on James The Second, Abstraction Media has worked with numerous networks and international corporations to create projects with a distinctive point of view. In addition, Max is seen as an established and trusted voice in entertainment and politics, having produced and led groundbreaking interviews with cultural icons including Reza Pahlavi and Ali Karimi. Conversations such as these are a prime example of the hard-hitting work that Max drives forward with his career, and only further fuel his passion for awareness and his mission to use his platform for educational purposes.

On top of his credits within the film and television space, Max is also an accomplished comedian who uses his tool of comedy to further conversations around family ties, cultural trappings, and social topics. He has taken his tours to an international level, constantly selling out state of the art theatres across the world in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Europe and The Middle East. Catering to each of his different audiences, he works to build unique comedy lineups, while always implementing his signature improvisation to make each show special. On top of this, Max has consistently given a platform to the plights of the Middle East, and puts an importance on bringing to light serious issues with the tool of comedy. He continues to tour internationally and perform regularly through his residency at the Hollywood Laugh Factory.

Diversity, inclusion, and education through entertainment have always been at the core of Max’s work, and he continues to use his ever-growing platform to enact real change within his space and community. He utilizes his extensive platform to highlight different issues and social topics, with his YouTube channel garnering over 10 million views. Max was born in Tucson, AZ and raised on the east coast, he graduated from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television in 2004.
