Michael Albaum is a Program Manager for Roofstock Academy at Roofstock. Michael left his career in engineering to pursue a career in real estate, but he couldn’t afford to buy a home in his home state of California. So he started his portfolio by looking at single-family homes out of state. Michael now lives in a converted van while managing three single-family rentals and a portfolio of multifamily units. At Roofstock, Michael works with students in the Roofstock Academy program to help facilitate real estate acquisitions, especially those that are out of the students’ home state. He’s able to walk participants through the mental hurdles that come with the territory of distance investing through sharing his own experience.
