Myrrh Caplan, Vice President of Sustainability for Skanska, a leading global construction and development firm, focuses on the company’s capability in the building space, underscoring its commitment to creating a more sustainable future for the built environment. In this role, Caplan will lead Skanska’s national sustainable building team, providing consulting and support in areas such as LEED or WELL certification, resilience, Mass Timber/ CLT, Living Building Challenge, Healthy Building, sustainable data integration, and carbon analysis, tracking and reporting. Caplan was recently named a 2022 LEED Fellow by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and to date has led or worked on 208 projects seeking LEED certification or LEED-certified. Caplan also holds accreditations from the Center for Advanced Design and the Institute for Sustainable. Prior to this role, Caplan served as Senior Director, Sustainability. Previously she held a series of increasingly senior roles at Skanska, all in the sustainability and engineering space. Along the way, Caplan helped shape the company’s national approach to Sustainable Building. She conceived and launched the company’s first national Green Construction program and chaired Skanska’s first National Green Building Council. Caplan received an MBA from Raymond A. Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary, and a BA in Environmental Policy/Land Use Planning from Huxley College.
A newly formed Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) task force on decarbonization and carbon reporting will address the challenges around reporting and reducing carbon emissions in the construction industry.
