While assisting my aging parents, I was introduced to the world of geriatric care and started learning about the growing need for these services and the many niches under the senior care umbrella. I also realized how much I loved helping my parents; it brought us closer together, and we functioned like a small team. I also started to find myself helping many of their friends and their families who had questions about their own care.

Eventually, I founded New York Financial Organizers, a company that helps people to pay their bills, process insurance claims and deal with all of the non-investment issues they have with finance.

  • We’re in the midst of a “Silver Tsunami”; the elderly population is growing exponentially yet we are unprepared to take care of them as they age and their needs increase. This movement would include training people to provide resources for aging in place as well as the emotional support to help seniors to age with dignity.

  • The key to helping people age in place is the ability to refer other experts so individuals can live better lives. On any given day, I refer professionals to my clients — accountants, elder law attorneys, home care agencies, physicians who make home visits, geriatric care managers and more.
