Design, at its best, isn’t just seen — it’s felt. It’s the quiet confidence of a space that works intuitively. It’s the stillness of a room that invites you to stay a little longer. And for over 15 years, Rachel Blindauer has been crafting that feeling — through interiors, furniture, and products — for discerning clients around the country.

A classically trained designer with a background as diverse as her portfolio, Rachel studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, earned her five-year Bachelor’s in Interior Architecture and Product Design from Kansas State University, and continued her postgraduate studies at both the Academy of Art University and the prestigious Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. Her approach marries architectural rigor with the soul of an artist — balancing aesthetic vision with practical elegance.

Her work has not gone unnoticed.

Rachel’s designs have been widely published, earning her national recognition and nominations including the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award. She was honored with the Emerging Professional Design Excellence Award, named Top 20 Interior Design Firms in San Francisco, and listed among the Top 12 Designers to Watch on Instagram — a testament to her enduring relevance and reach in a fast-moving industry. She also holds a LEED Design Associate accreditation and has received the Best of Houzz for Customer Service award multiple times, affirming her commitment to excellence from concept to final install.

Rachel also served as an Assistant Vice President at Gabby, a beloved trade furniture company, and spent years designing for the Williams Sonoma, Inc. family of brands, where she developed over 1,000 pieces of furniture, lighting, seating, and home décor — a legacy of thoughtful form and commercial success.

Today, Rachel Blindauer’s Studio is based in St. Louis, Missouri, but her design footprint stretches much farther — from Nantucket to Sarasota Florida, Lincoln Massachusetts to Sacramento. Rachel is often on the move, meeting clients where they are — quite literally — bringing her jet set sensibility and architectural eye to a wide variety of projects. From multi-property estate owners and developers to hospitality and creative entrepreneurs, Rachel’s design ethos centers around clarity, collaboration, and comfort.

Clients choose Rachel because they want more than just a beautiful space — they want a seasoned expert. Someone who’s worked on both coasts, in boardrooms and brownstones. Someone who can design a bespoke built-in, streamline a product line for manufacturing efficiency, or coordinate every square inch of a new construction project. At Rachel Blindauer, you work directly with Rachel — not an entry-level associate. Every detail is thoughtfully considered. Every decision is grounded in years of experience.

Her interior design services span both residential and commercial spaces — whether you’re furnishing a pied-à-terre, transforming a boutique hotel, designing your dream nursery, or even updating your yacht (yes, she’s done those too). She also offers 2-hour virtual or in person consultations for clients seeking expert direction and design clarity — credited toward full-service design packages.

  • Innovative Garden Room Ideas: From Kitchens to Meditation Spaces
Rachel suggests outdoor kitchens with herb gardens, garden libraries for relaxation, and meditation rooms free of clutter. Explore creative sheds, cocktail gardens, and even garden bath rooms. Rachel notes, "A custom garden room doesn’t compete with the house. It belongs to it." Her designs promise spaces that enhance living, not just mimic indoor rooms.
  • Illuminate Your Bay Window: Expert Tips from Rachel Blindauer
Rachel suggests "floating furniture" and using "sheer drapery" to style bay windows. She recommends light-reflective materials and advises using botanicals sparingly. Emphasizing negative space and layering textures can enhance the window's appeal. Rachel's approach ensures bay windows remain bright and inviting, allowing natural light to be the focal point.
  • Elevate Outdoor Dining with Expert Table Linen Styling
Rachel highlights the elegance of outdoor table linens, which set the tone for gatherings. She describes five styles: "Crisp White Linen," "Block-Printed Patterns," "Striped Linen Runners," "Vintage Florals," and "Heavyweight Canvas." These linens bridge nature and design, creating memorable dining experiences. "Outdoor linens should feel like part of the landscape—considered, tactile, and quietly confident," Rachel says.
