Professor Ricardo H.R. Castro is chair of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in Lehigh University's P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. In addition to being one of the world's leading experts on nanomaterials, Dr. Castro is a Marvel superfan and teaches a course on how materials give superheroes—like Thor, Captain America, and Ironman—their powers.
“We love that connection with the impossible,” says Castro, who is chair of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and a lifelong Marvel superfan. “I think we can use that connection to inspire remarkable creativity in our engineering students.”
