As Global Head of Portfolio Construction in Vanguard’s Investment Strategy Group, I manage a 20+ global research team which develops multi-asset-class strategies and conducts quantitative research on asset allocation, investment solutions, and retirement topics. I am the vice-chair of Vanguard's Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) Committee, in charge of overseeing the asset allocation of Vanguard multi-asset-class fund solutions such as Vanguard's Target Retirement Funds, and I am also a member of Vanguard’s Advice Policy Committee, of our Dynamic Asset Allocation Council, and chair of Vanguard’s Time-Varying Asset Allocation sub-committee.
In economics, my areas of expertise are U.S. economy, monetary policy, econometrics, and economic forecasting. I present regularly to investors and clients at various forums and speak to the financial press. I have published numerous studies on macroeconomic and investment issues in peer-reviewed academic journals, industry journals, and in our own Vanguard Research paper series.
Before joining Vanguard in 2007, I was a visiting professor of macroeconomics at Drexel University's LeBow College of Business. I earned my Ph.D. in Economics from North Carolina State University and my B.A. in Economics from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina.
