What I found really interesting was there were all these sellers who were running what was essentially a side hustle, but the side hustles were real businesses. I mean some of them were doing millions of dollars a year, but what I found noticeable was the lack of sophisticated capital in the space. Although it’s very simple to start an Amazon business, it’s actually quite complicated to do it at scale.
We started the company with our headquarters in New York, but given the pandemic, we’ve had the opportunity to reimagine the workplace and adopt a far more flexible work environment. With our rapidly scaling team and a shift in where people want to live today, we've decided to open a second headquarters in Austin, which enjoys a deep talent pool and thriving tech community.
