Seye is a globally recognised banking professional, social entrepreneur, and an advocate for equality.
He has worked in corporate and investment banking for over 15 years across Africa, Middle East and Europe, specialising in (conventional and Islamic) financing and investment solutions for projects focused on Africa and the Middle East.
Alongside his professional journey, Seye is also motivated by his personal experiences. He believes that everyone deserves to be treated with equal dignity and provided with meaningful socioeconomic opportunity.
In 2017, Seye founded a non-profit social enterprise, Sona Circle which connects refugees with local opportunities through internships, apprenticeships, and paid employment. Sona Circle also raise awareness for refugees, in order to break down negative stigmas.
In 2021, he developed Sona Sustainability Credit Score System (SSCSS), to improve financial institutions' lending practises. The system measures and rewards environmental and sustainable behaviours, and ultimately encourages millions of companies to adopt sustainable practises.
Seye is the author of the book ‘Refugees are here to stay, get used to it’. He has been invited as a guest speaker at corporate events including Facebook Friday For Good Summit, and at academic institutions such as Copenhagen Business School, Aston Business School and Ruskin College Oxford.
Seye has been recognised for his impact, with several awards including the Social Entrepreneur Award by Cause4 and he was a finalist for the AMBA Entrepreneur of the year 2022 Award and the 5th Global Entreps Award. He has also been featured in numerous articles and publications including Yahoo Finance, Business Because, ABC News, Poets & Quants, D&I Leaders and more.
He is a fully qualified Management Accountant, he holds a BSc in Economics and International Politics, an MSc in Accounting and Finance, an MBA, CFA level 1 certification and the Islamic Finance Qualification. Seye is fluent in English and Greek.
