"With the ‘trigger finger’ tensions we’re seeing worldwide—from Iran to the ongoing war in Ukraine—this is an especially difficult time for veterans. These conflicts can reactivate past traumas, bringing up intrusive thoughts and reigniting PTSD symptoms. As we approach Veterans Day, we may think of celebration, but for many veterans, this time may be more painful than celebratory. It’s critical that we’re mindful of their experiences and ready to offer support, rather than encouraging them to simply ‘stuff down’ their trauma. I hope we can rally together to raise funds and resources, so veterans can access the mental health care they deserve and truly find healing." – Shari B. Kaplan, LCSW, Founder of Cannectd Wellness
