Steven Reider is the co-founder and president of Bancography, a Birmingham, Ala.- based financial services consulting firm. Bancography provides consulting services, software tools and marketing research to financial institutions throughout the U.S. to support their branch, product and brand positioning strategies as well as custom branch network optimization services to deliver a long-term plan for branch openings, closings, relocations and acquisitions. 

Bancography also offers Bancography Plan, a market analysis and branch planning software tool, created by Reider, that enables users to forecast profitability for proposed locations, monitor competition and evaluate the performance of existing branches across the U.S.

Steve brings 25 years of experience to his role at Bancography. Having worked with hundreds of financial institutions during his tenure, recent projects have included branch delivery, market entry, and marketing strategies for retail, commercial, wealth and mortgage banking services across many of the nation’s largest metropolitan areas. To augment Bancography’s project findings, Reider presents case studies of best practices in branch staffing, attrition mitigation, sales management, product design and organizational structure.

Prior to launching Bancography, Reider was vice president of corporate marketing at AmSouth Bank, a $43B institution, now Regions Financial Corp. His responsibilities there included delivery network planning, branch and ATM profitability analysis, market and demographic research and customer segmentation models.

In addition to his professional role, Reider serves on the board of directors of several local arts and civic organizations, including Sloss Furnaces Foundation and Magic City Art Connection. Reider earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a master’s degree in Finance from Tulane University.

Reider has authored and contributed numerous articles and presentations on branch site location, forecasting sales potential, the impact of demographics on consumer financial behavior, in-store banking and market segmentation. Recent articles are available in ABA Banking Journal, BAI Banking Strategies, Finopotamus, and The Financial Brand to name a few. Since 2003, he has served on the faculty of the American Bankers Association’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
