Suzanne Ogle, IRC, APR, CAE, CSR-P, is CEO of Southern Gas Association (SGA). She has a background in business marketing and psychology. Her career journey began in teaching; later, she transitioned to IR work, driven by her curiosity to learn more and move up in her career. As she learned more about energy, she began to understand its potential to make the world a better place and its power to shape economies.
As head of SGA, she supports members through training, raising awareness, and offering support in advancing their strategic imperatives. Her vision for energy is to have a lower carbon future where all energy solutions work together in tandem. Suzanne understands as population growth expands, the energy mix becomes increasingly important.
Her guiding compass is her passion for learning. She is focused on honing the message and image of SGA to help increase relevance, reach, member service, and the ability of SGA to help younger generations of Americans have a holistic vision for the future of energy.
One of SGA's key considerations is to look at the natural gas industry holistically, instead of just from the perspective of a producer, transporter, or distributor. This approach allows them to see the interconnectedness of the industry.
SGA runs into challenges with brand perception, particularly with people not understanding what they do. Their name, which is regional sounding, contributes to this perception. The association's target communication markets include young professionals considering joining the industry, policymakers, other industry leaders, and the general public. The goals of this communication are to expand energy conservation, and to help educate people on a realistic way to have an energy future that includes the use of natural gas as a way to lower emissions and address the energy needs of underserved populations.
