Originally from Maryland, Tal-Or Cohen Montemayor moved to Israel after finishing high school in 2009 to join the IDF. After completing her military service, she majored in law and political science at Reichman University, pivoting to open-source and business intelligence and leading research projects on extremist movements in the United States that dealt with online antisemitism.
She founded CyberWell in 2022 as the world's first live database of online antisemitism. CyberWell actively monitors social media, using AI and advanced open-source intelligence tools to find likely antisemitic posts which are then vetted by a team of human experts. Verified antisemitic content is uploaded to the CyberWell database, where it is catalogued by how it is antisemitic according to the IHRA definition, and which content policy it violates.
CyberWell's mission is to spur more effective enforcement of content policies on social media, and shares data with social platforms to that effect.
"When we think to ourselves how do we stem the rise of antisemitism, we should recognize that the digital sphere is where we need to be fighting this issue most aggressively," Tal-Or Cohen Montemayor said.
