Tara Bosch is the founder of SmartSweets, where they are on a global mission to "Kick Sugar, and Keep Candy." Tara dropped out of university at 21 to begin recipe testing in her kitchen on a quest to innovate the first delicious candy- Without the sugar. Launching nation-wide on store shelves less than a year later, SmartSweets can now be found in 130,000 stores across the USA & Canada, with partners including Target, Kroger, and Costco. Today, SmartSweets has helped people kick over 5 Billion grams of sugar and partnered with TPG Capital in a 360M Deal. SmartSweets is among the fastest growing CPG brands to be founded by a solo female founder in North American history. Tara is the recipient of several entrepreneurial awards, including being named a Peter Thiel Fellow and featured in Forbes 30 under 30, among others.

Tara sold a majority stake in the business for $360 million in 2020 and now the young founder and owner has a new venture to empower fellow female entrepreneurs to get their start. Aptly named “Bold Beginnings,” the accelerator allows women under 30 jumpstart their visions and lean on each other for support.

  • "Growing up I wasn't smart or athletic and I didn't have any particular talents. But what I did have was an innate sense of urgency, resourcefulness and the ability to make something happen once I got it in my head that I wanted to. SmartSweets was the first time I realized the power of all those things combined." - CNBC

  • Given that she didn’t love her college courses and already had had one failed start-up idea before founding SmartSweets, Bosch feels strongly that “sometimes learning what isn’t your life purpose is just as powerful as feeling like you're on the right path! Know that feeling lost is really just part of the universe's process of guiding you to the path you're meant to be on. Continue trying new things and acting on your ideas, leaning into the path your gut and intuition is guiding you towards.” - Forbes

  • "If we bring together young women who have big visions and empower them to know they are infinitely capable, then the magic and impact they will go on to create in the world is limitless," she says. - Vancouver is Awesome
