New York City-based interior decorator Tara McCauley is always on the lookout for the perfect vintage find. A lifelong lover of color and pattern, she met her ideal (but by no means vintage!) match in Elle Décor A-List decorator Nick Olsen, under whom she has been apprenticing for the past six years. Tara believes in having a specific point of view and never taking oneself too seriously, whether that applies to decorating a home or putting together a head-to-toe look for a night on the town. With history as an anchor, she finds beauty in the juxtaposition of periods and unexpected materials. Tara’s home has been featured in New York Magazine’s Curbed “Great Rooms" as well as NBC’s Open House TV.
Prior to joining Nick Olsen Inc., Tara earned a BA at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study where she pursued an interdisciplinary concentration in art history and architecture. She also completed a studio-based summer program at Parsons’ School of Constructed Environments.
The time I’ve put into this apartment has paid off because for the past depressing year, I’ve at least had a joyful space to spend my time. That being said, I can’t wait to go out and dance till 4 a.m.! And when I come home, I have the deep-blue sea waiting to envelope me as I sleep off the martinis.20 November 2021
