Toby Mather is the Product Director at Novakid, Europe’s largest online English tutoring platform for children. Prior to this, he was the founder of Lingumi, an English learning application for children ages 2-6 that used AI- and game-driven lessons to reduce the cost and improve the quality of language learning for children. Lingumi has more than two million users, and was the most popular English learning app for kids in East Asia before being acquired by Novakid in 2024.
Before founding Lingumi, Toby studied Modern Languages at the University of Oxford, and worked as an English teacher for children in Russia and Italy. A self-taught software developer and photographer, Toby was entrepreneurial from a young age, building websites for small businesses to fund his technology purchases, and founding several small startups prior to graduation. He believes in hard work, inspiring people, and using technology to transform education and quality of life for children all over the world.
