Todd is a Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He started his professional career with Monsanto Agricultural Company, where he worked for about two years before returning to academia. Todd spent eight years on the faculty at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, followed by 20 years at Carnegie Mellon University. There, he served as founding Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. He re-joined the faculty at Rensselaer in August 2018. He received undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis. He received his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical eEngineering with a minor in Biology from Caltech.
