Tom Cappello is an executive producer, director, and writer with over 20 years of experience in film, television, and branded entertainment. He started Crazy Legs Productions in 2004 with his wife Allison Troxell, and they have since grown it into one of the South’s premier entertainment companies. Cappello has developed & executive produced successful series including “Your Worst Nightmare,” “Dead Silent,” and “Swamp Murders” for Investigation Discovery, “A Season With” for Showtime, “Family by the Ton” for TLC, “The Prancing Elites Project” for Oxygen, "Inside the Madness" for Facebook, and many more.
Prior to founding Crazy Legs, Cappello produced work for History Channel, TNT, National Geographic, PBS, Turner Classic Movies and Turner Sports. He also spearheaded branded projects for Fortune 500 companies like Coca-Cola, Comcast, UPS, and Chick-fil-A, as well as partnering on advocacy projects with non-profits like CARE, the Committee to Protect Journalists, and the Measles & Rubella Initiative. Aside from getting through his first stand-up comedy routine, Cappello’s proudest moment was his feature directorial debut, “A Powerful Noise,” at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival.
He is a graduate of Florida State University, with a master’s degree in Film Studies from Emory University. In 2011, Cappello formed the Atlanta chapter of the Producers Guild of America and is now Chair Emeritus. He and his company are represented by Creative Artists Agency.
